Video Game Genre
A VIDEO GAME GENRE is a classification assigned to a video game based on its gameplay interaction rather than visual or narrative differences. A video game genre is defined by a set of gameplay challenges and are classified independently of their setting or game-world content, unlike other works of fiction such as films or books . For example, a shooter game is still a shooter game, regardless of where it takes place. As with nearly all varieties of genre classification, the matter of any individual video game's specific genre is open to personal interpretation. Moreover, each individual game may belong to several genres at once. Interaction Design
INTERACTION DESIGN, often abbreviated as IXD, is "the practice of designing interactive digital products, environments, systems, and services." :xxxi,1 While the digital side of this statement is true, interaction design is also useful when creating physical (non-digital) products, exploring how a user might interact with it. Common topics of interaction design include design , human–computer interaction , and software development . While interaction design has an interest in form (similar to other design fields), its main area of focus rests on behavior. :1 Rather than analyzing how things are, interaction design synthesizes and imagines things as they could be. This element of interaction design is what clearly marks IxD as a design field as opposed to a science or engineering field. :xviii While disciplines such as software engineering have a heavy focus on designing for technical stakeholders, interaction design is geared toward satisfying the majority of users

Video Game Development
VIDEO GAME DEVELOPMENT is the process of creating a video game . Development is undertaken by a game developer , which may range from a single developer to a global team of developers. Traditional commercial PC and console games are normally funded by a publisher , and can take several years to develop. Indie games can take less time and can be produced at a lower cost by individuals and smaller developers. The independent game industry has seen a substantial rise in recent years with the growth of new online distribution systems, such as Steam and Uplay, as well as the mobile game market, such as for Android and iOS devices. The first video games were noncommercial, and were developed in the 1960s. They required mainframe computer 's to run and were not available to the general public for play. Commercial game development began in the 1970s with the advent of first-generation video game consoles and early home computers like the Apple I

VIDEO GAME DESIGN is the process of designing the content and rules of a video game in the pre-production stage and designing the gameplay, environment, storyline, and characters in the production stage . The designer of a game is very much like the director of a film; the designer is the visionary of the game and controls the artistic and technical elements of the game in fulfillment of their vision. Video game
Video game
design requires artistic and technical competence as well as writing skills. As the industry has aged and embraced alternative production methodologies such as agile, the role of a principal game designer has begun to separate - some studios emphasising the auteur model while others emphasising a more team oriented model. Within the video game industry , video game design is usually just referred to as "game design ", which is a more general term elsewhere

Handheld Electronic Game
HANDHELD ELECTRONIC GAME(S) are very small, portable devices for playing interactive electronic games , often miniaturized versions of video games . The controls, display and speakers are all part of a single unit. Rather than a general-purpose screen made up of a grid of small pixels , they usually have custom displays designed to play one game. This simplicity means they can be made as small as a digital watch , and sometimes are. The visual output of these games can range from a few small light bulbs or LED
LED
lights to calculaor-like alphanumerical screens; later these were mostly displaced by liquid crystal and vacuum fluorescent display screens with detailed images and in the case of VFD games, color. Handhelds were at their most popular from the late 1970s into the early 1990s. They are the precursors to the handheld game console
